[Q]Need recomendations on what motherboard to get.

That's your opinion. I've run a Gigabyte board without any issues at all, as has aigomorla (the cases and cooling mod). Meanwhile, the only Asrock board I've personally handled has refused to boot, and Asrock refused to RMA.

Yet I still recommend both, because I know that my experience is in no way representative of the average person's experience (both companies sell thousands, if not millions, of motherboards).

Furthermore, if he doesn't want to overclock (or doesn't care either way), he definitely should not be spending extra on a Z77 board.

I have built hundreds of PCs with both, Gigabytes hasnt been all that for several years.....Asrock is cheaper and more feature rich, and the OP did mention he may OC....but you are right, its only my opinion.

I can totally see an Asrock being a better bang-for-buck purchase in general, but in the OP's particular case, the Gigabyte board offers what he needs (enough SATA connectors, Ivy Bridge support) for the lowest price.

I'm not recommending Gigabyte because I like Gigabyte; I'm recommending it simply because it's the cheapest. Had it been an Asrock board, we'd be in total agreement.

I would serious reconsider what you've planned here. You're planning on getting a $225 motherboard when a $100 motherboard would work just as well, and you want to keep using your crappy GTX 650. There is absolutely no way that you need to go all the way up to a lightly overclocked i5-3570K to get the most out of a GTX 650. I'd get a cheaper i5 and a B75 or H77 motherboard, sell the GTX 650, and grab a $150-200 graphics card instead (the 7850 2GB and 650ti Boost come to mind).

The reason I say this is that LGA1155 is a dead platform. No matter how much you spend on a motherboard, there is no way to magically get more performance or have a larger upgrade path. The motherboard does not have a significant impact on performance AT ALL. The main thing that determines performance in games will be your graphics card, and frankly, the GTX 650 will not cut it for much longer.

It looks like you have about 40,000INR (a sum of the money you've planned to spend thus far) to spend on a CPU, motherboard, RAM, and anything else that needs to be replaced (honestly, I'm not sure why nobody asked you to answer the sticky questions, you've gotten some less than good advice). I'd get these:

i5-3470 11872INR
Kingston 2x4GB RAM 4290INR
Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H 4205INR
Gainward GTX 660 15806INR
Total: 36173INR

If you sell the old GTX 650 for about 3000INR, that leaves you about 7000INR. That's enough to get a Samsung 840 120GB SSD.

The thing is, Dad said no new graphics card, at least not atm. The reason why I said I am fine with lower the graphics quality is because I understand gtx650 is not high end. So since I can't spend on the card this month, I'll spend that money in the mobo, and then buy the card 2 months later.
And this thread was moved from Motherboards section to here on request, that is why there are no Sticky questions answers, If you want me to I can do that if you want.
So I see HyperX is better than Sniper, saw them in benchmarks too. I'm gonna go with them 🙂
And I think I'm gonna skip on the SSD, don't have any real use of it, I wasn't going to install any game on it anyway.
I do intended to do overclocking, but not to the extremes(And won't keep the oc when not needed). Will the deepcool fan keep it cool?) Do you think I should go with MSI z77 g45 gaming since it is a lot cheaper? I may be able find it locally.

Thanks for your recommendations.

I think you should ask your dad exactly why he mandates no new graphics card, but is willing to blow so much money on a motherboard when the graphics card is the main thing that determines performance. This "upgrade" is almost 100% worthless otherwise. Explain that to him, and then maybe he'll be more understanding.

Additionally, I don't think you should overclock just for the sake of overclocking. You don't really need the marginally higher CPU performance you get from an overclock, and getting overclock capable parts (K CPU, Z77 motherboard, cooler) is extra cost. Plus, there is always a risk to overclocking.

Weirdly 3570K is cheaper than 3570 with all the discounts! The only time I will oc is while compiling android to make it do the job faster.
I will make my Dad buy a 660 within the next two months. It's his decision not to buy it atm, I can't question him. 😱 I understand 650 is not the best graphics card to go with what I'm buying, I will try my best so that Dad pays for a new one. Till then, I'm gonna keep the graphic quality on medium. Currently I get 15-20fps on BF3 on a c2d e4400, Intel G945GCCR,4Gig RAM on low settings, and outs painful to have such a laggy system!

So finally, the deepcool gamaxx 200 will do, or the Intel one will be fine, considering only time I will oc is when compiling?
And extreme 6 or G45 gaming?
The total or the above comes it to be 33K INR, so I'm gonna spends a lil on some cheap atx case, whatever I can find locally, don't really care much about the looks and brand. That means my current setup can stay for other purposes, or maybe I'll just sell it.

I'd just get the cheapest ATX Z77 board. Any board can OC to 4.2GHz fine, and you only need mainstream aftermarket cooling for that - it's the best bang for buck.
