Q-Fan

Title says it all, not sure if this should go here or under M/B's but oh well.

Can someone please explain to me how Q-Fan works. I would like to throttle my CPU fan down but i dont understand how the ratios work and what not.

Examples would also be nice.

Throttle it down like 11/16 ratio = fan would spin to a certain max rpm under load.

Throttle it up to 15/16 ratio = under load, the fan spins to a higher max.

Can you give more of an example.

Like would 11/16 mean that at a certain temp the fan would throttle down and then at a certain temp it would throttle up again. I need a more basic lol explanation. (This is my one noob post per day 😉 )

Just at lower temps with 11/16 the depending on the speed it spins will run at lower RPMs. But when the temps pick up the fan go toward the higher speed.

I sort of got it. So is 11/16 the recommended setting? Right now my copmuter idles at 40C and loads around 45C with all my case fans turned on low settings with my controller.

as aristo sez- i think the lower the first number- the lower it spins down 2- the top speed doesnt actually change- at least thats how it works on my ASUS A7V8X- or should- as far as the manual explains it to you 🙂

But my Q-fan hasnt been working for the last couple of BIOS flashes- tho i have no idea if it is BIOS controlled-i assume it is 😛 When i set 10/16 it will drop approx the right ratio- from about 3,400rpm down to 2200rpm- but then even under a d3 load it wont spin up again- so i get massive temps 😛
