I learned by having my swim-instructor forcibly shove me in the pool and struggle for about 10min...then she came and got me.

Yes, I can, and I think people who can't are weird... it's about on the same level as knowing to tell time or tie your shoes. If you can't, well, what's wrong with you?

pretty much yes, but I tire easily in the water, so I'm guessing my technique is pretty rough

Yes and surf and water ski and snorkle but my favorite thing to do in the pool is pissing. You definitely need to learn to do that.

Yes, but not very well.

Kind of funny... we were doing water survival training at ROTC Basic Camp two months ago. There was this guy who couldn't swim. They still made him jump off the high board with a blindfold on :D

Yes, but not like a fish. I'm kind of clumsy at it because I've had so little practice since I was a kid.
