I am with Comcast cable and wanting to test the waters with satellite (its cheaper). I am told by the CS folks that I am bound to the contract from Day 1.

Is that true ?

Do I not get a 3-day window to cancel such contracts if I am not satisfied ?

Seems like people always say that the 3 day rule only applies if you sign the contract in your own home.

Of course I dont know crap about contract law,so dont bet the farm on my answer.

Thats probably not relevant.

I confess its a very broad question ... contracts are signed for various things ... auto leases, cell phones, etc. I vaguely remember someone saying that depending on your state of residency there is most probably a 3-day window to anull the contract.

Dish Network does not require you to sign a contract at all. They'll say you have to pay a $49.99 activation fee if you don't, but if you get a referral code from someone (PM me if you need one) they'll waive that too.

In most states it is relevant, if they came to you like a door to door salesman does and he pitches the product to you then you will most likely have 3 days to cancel without any problems. But if you searched out a product or service then you weren't pressured into it, you went looking for it and then you are stuck.

I already got a no-contract deal from Dish (though, yet to be installed)... so its no longer an issue.

My concern was the compression of HD streams.

Thanks.
