We’re currently investigating an issue related to the forum theme and styling that is impacting page layout and visual formatting. The problem has been identified, and we are actively working on a resolution. There is no impact to user data or functionality, this is strictly a front-end display issue. Are you going to have some kind of "amnesty" programs and let some (if not all) of the perma banned members back to the community? If they express the desire to do so and not to do it <whatever they did to earn the ban> again.
I think some of those banned members had contributed positively over the years. Much better than the ones that keep creating "YAGT" threads..... not that anything wrong with them, just not my cup of tea.
Disclosure: I personally don't know any of those banned members but I read a bunch of their posts in the last few years, at least before they were gone.

Any possibility of discussing this? Just bringing it to attention as I don't think anyone really visits the suggestion box as much as the other two FI's.

What this is bcoming sad to say is like the MSN Gaming Zone...they had what they Sysops who were in essense cops who kept order in the many gaming room chat areas...
Everybody wanted to become one just so they could have the tools to silnce or boot "unruly" members!
But what it graually over time evolved into was one huge cluster of people who ruled with an iron hand over ther domains to and including abusing members who thy had personnal issues with even if the issue was just a differeing of opinion...
I would really hate to se these forums gravitate towards how the Gaming use to be before they disbandd the whole Sysop system and updated site as whole!!

I have a favorite thread the housing thread in P&N. Most of the time this thread is quite fun, educational, and civil. But at times this thread goes just barely beyond the acceptable limits. Read the last ~50 posts for examples. I don't necessarilly want anyone to get a vacation and I don't want any excessive moderating of that thread (edits and/or deletions). But what is the proper way to get the posters back into a good debate without the personal attacks?
I am just about on the edge of asking it to be locked if the personal name calling continues.

I've been lurking there since that forum was split off. While I'd agree wholeheartedly with any accusations that I'm a noob when it comes to cameras (especially compared to several of the frequent posters in that forum), I don't believe that it requires an expert in order to spot personal attacks in that forum or other transgressions that need moderation.
Heather is a trainee, and she has a curfew. Think you can get her home by 9:30?
Not only does Olds require a deposit, but I will install a GPS on your car, her cell phone, and have a large man name Guido following, and he is very good at what he does.

I notice that too, most of the mods don't post anymore, is this forum REALLY that tough to mod?

*shrug* I can't believe that everyone cares so much about who the mods are.
Slowed down quite a bit if you look at actual post count. There is a TON of work to being a mod.
Yes. I thought it would be much, much easier than it really is. Trying to be even handed is very difficult. On top of that, it takes a lot of time. You don't realize that you actually spent 15 hours being a mod until it is the end of the day, you look at the clock and realize it is 1 AM.

Surprised Jeff (Purplehippo) isn't a mod. He would be great for the FS/FT forum as he always keeps a level head even in the Troll type threads.
