actually he is doing exactly what he should do. granted he does sound like a hypochondriac.

neurologist #1 says something is wrong. OK fine. get a 2nd opinion.
goes to a rheumatologist (never heard of that one..) says nothing is wrong.
#2 neurologist says doubtful he has anything and to stop worrying.
seen a MD (odd that its here. usually should be first person you see.) but he says noting is wrong. granted i would have stopped at this point. but i can not blame him for seeing a third neurologist.

the op does sound like he gets worked up over stuff. He defiantly needs to calm down. there is nothing he can do until he is diagnosed (by more then ONE doctor on serious things). Even then all he can do is take treatment and keep a positive outlook.

Insurance places would rather have you get a 2nd (and sometimes 3rd) opinion on things. about 6 years ago i was getting real tired and started gaining weight like you wouldn't believe. hell i went from 130lb to 220 in about 6 months, maybe less. just walking up the stairs wore me out. i was sleeping 15-20 hours a day. when i usually would get 4-6.

went to my MD and he ordered a bunch of blood test. it came back my lever levels were very high.

he sent me to see a specialist (whoever you see for liver. i didn't pay attention heh) and he said my liver was fine and it was just stress. well about a week later i got a call from my insurance saying they wanted a 2nd opionon. because the doctors they have said something was not right. they also wanted to know what he did because he billed them like $5k for the visit.

so i went to doctor #2 and he yelled at me for waiting nearly a year to see him.

granted insurance was more then likely worried about the cash. but they told me to ALWAYS get a second opinion on such matters.

Time to go on a 1 week vacation to some remote island. Get plasted for that week and forget about everything. When you return you will be a new man.

I have had some bad luck, and got accused of being a hypochondriac by my military doctor. I don't know how you can fake tearing your ACL proved by MRI, having surgery, tearing your meniscus, again proved by an MRI, having surgery again, breaking bones in my foot, back injury leaving me unable to get on my hands and knees, proved by severe muscle tears, and spasming, torn ligament in my ankle, proved by it swelling bigger than a damn softball. And my doctor in the military wondered why I gained 30 lbs that year, told me I need to work out more... hell half the year I couldn't exercise, the other half I was recovering just to be able to do stuff normally.

My mom gets dizzy spells, has nerve damage in her back, and her arms and legs go numb, and the neurologists, and docs all tell her that shes imagining the symptoms. Hopefully if there is something really wrong, you get a doctor that will really listen to you, and not just pass it off. If you guys do a little research online, you can find out that the number one cause of death in the united states, is medical mistakes. Yep NUMBER ONE. Tops everything, yet we need doctors, the good ones are worth the money, just to avoid paying a bad one almost the same amount.
