Cliffs only to keep this quick:

1) Was in the hospital a month ago with kidney overload from working out too much
2) A few days later got intense muscle pain, still lasted up until today
3) Saw a neurologist who did a test on me and said "Oh ****** something is wrong." Said I had a myopathy (not good).
4) Saw a rheumatologist who said "I doubt that you have one. You're fine."
5) Saw another neurologist who said "I doubt that you have one, but I can't explain the muscle acheness you are feeling."
6) Saw my MD who said I have developed generalized anxiety from all of this mess, and I shouldn't worry. Chances are slim.
7) Saw a third neurologist today who said "Relax", followed by screaming at me for worrying so much and saying he won't see me unless I calm down. He looked at the results from the first doctor (the neurologist) and said "This guy shouldn't be practicing medicine. His analysis is all wrong, sorry to scare you like that. We will do the test in my office next Wednesday and I think everything will come up OK. I really don't think you have anything wrong."

So I don't know how to take this internally. Part of me says maybe nothing is wrong and this is just anxiety, but another part of me feels these muscle aches and cramps. When I work out, sometimes my nerves twitch even and it kinda hurts... like a long tingly sensation running down my arm.

So what should I do? Should I go back to the original doctor and let him scare me more? Or should I trust the new guy (Who is at Rutgers/Princeton Neurology, so very good) and see where he leads me?

By all means, keep spending more and more $$$ so your doctors can buy the new Mercedes...I hope your insurance denies all these claims as frivolous. Myself, I think you're just paranoid and a bit nuts, but that's just me...

I'd go with Neurologist #3. He's checking the other guy's notes (a good sign), and testing for any potential problems (another good sign.) The third guy's answer of "I dunno" is pretty lame - most good doctors would admit they don't know what to do, and then put you through a battery of blood tests (most of which are pretty cheap and only require a single blood sample) to check for assorted problems.

You're kidding me, right?

Overloading one's kidneys through overexertion is a bit odd, but it often happens accidentally, and it sure beats obeisity. Many serious medical conditions could ensue.

Yes, the doctors all seem to be kind of sucky, except for your MD (who is probbably right) and the 3rd neurologist (who seems like he knows what he's doing.)

Erm, answer seems obvious - go and see the third guy and let him do his tests. You must be totally freaking out for your doc to talk to you like that. Relax and stop bitching.

You sound a bit like a hypochondriac. If you're so agitated that a doctor says he won't see you unless you calm down, then something tells me that you're probably freaking out a bit too much. Just chill out and try to get yourself under control. Sounds like its nothing serious and you're mind is making it worse than it is.

I hate doctors who think you just have anxiety and ignore your symptoms. You are anxious because you have symptoms, not the other way around.

I think once your doc thinks you have anxiety, you gotta find a new doc. Because once he gets this mindset that it's all in your head, you can have serious symptoms, and he'll ignore them thinking you have nothing better to do than make up stuff.

Well I went to this guy today, and he wants to do the test. If the EMG comes back "normal" according to him, then it really can't be anything else neurological. we'll see.

1) Cover up your visits from the subsequent doctors.
2) Do whatever the first doctor tells you to do.
3) Get sick from useless medication.
4) Sue for malpractice.
5) ....
6) Profit!
