I never understood the point of stealing such famous art. Say you were a billionaire and could afford to hire thieves to steal the Mona Lisa for you. What would you do with it after you had it? Would you display it at your home? Everytime someone comes over, from your kid's prom date to the UPS delivery guy, they'll see it. One day someone will talk and you'll be sent away for a long time.
The other alternative is to hide it in a secret room or basement. Then what would you do? You couldn't tell anyone about it. You'd have to sneak downstairs, rub your hands and give off a sinister laugh. Lame.
Yeah, I never understood that either. In fact, I think when the Mona Lisa was stollen all it did was sit in the bottom of a trunk somewhere.
But by the sounds of it, stealing a painting appears to be much easier than robbing a bank.
