Puzzling Wireless Printing

Hi guys,

I can't seem to get my brother's Dell to access our HP Laserjet 3030 wirelessly. The Add printer function can't seem to find our network and display printer options. At first i thought this was strange b/c he's connected to the internet using a wireless adapter, and he's on the same network and workgroup as we all are.

However, he appeared once on Network Places, then disappeared when I refreshed from our router-connected PC. Whenever I try to access our workgroup computers through his PC I get an error message, something like "workgroup is not accessible".

Is there any easy way to get him recognized and added to the network? I have a feeling that if I can solve that, adding the printer wirelessly will be simple.

If any of the computers have SP1 instead of SP2 installed and the firewall turned on, then you won't be able to use NetBios (no file or printer sharing and the network won't even show up in Nework Places).

Disable all firewalls for now and try it. If you're behind a router there's little risk in disabling the firewall.

Do you have the Internet Security version of Norton or McAfee installed on either system? Their firewalls also generally block NetBIOS by default. Disable it.
