ok, computer's finished from building

3200+
k8vse (just got returned from asus...last one had a fried southbridge)
voodoo3 2000 (to test)
bfg 6800gt (the actualy card i'll be using)
ocz pc3200 plat.
its a compaq p900 monitor = sony trinitron 19'
nec dvdrw (unplugged)
maxtor 160gb HD (unplugged) - maybe fried?
floppy drive (trying to flash bios with it...good idea?)

the problem is that this is the first time i've put this thing back together and trying to get it to boot since i fried that southbridge. Now the problem is that with either vid card my monitor is getting nothing....
any suggestions on what the problem is. I don't care which vid card i'm gonna boot off of, but i'd like to see a graphic or something other than monitor is in power saving mode

um, i've went to fry's to test the CPU, which works....so the vocal post saying 'system failed cpu test' is wrong i suppose....but what else can it be?

Is this guy plugged into the motherboard?

Also, I hope your PSU is a high-quality 400W+ unit? And give the RAM 2.8 volts for sure, AUTO isn't the right choice for that stuff. Good luck :)

By the way, the top link on this page has a bunch more no-POST causes for you to check if necessary. I hope you know that the board needs to be mounted on standoffs... believe it or not, it's news to some folks :D

Is that voodoo card an AGP or PCI? If it's an AGP 2X I don't think it's gonna work. The problem you describe is one I experienced when trying to boot with a cheap AGP 2X for testing purposes. Modern mobo's don't seem to support AGP 2X.

Maybe the Voodoo 3 won't work and the PS is not up to the 6800? Did you have the 6800 plugged in? Do you have the auxiliary power (ATX12V) connector plugged in to the mobo(mech already said this)?
