putting your citizenship on your resume?

Anyone here put their country of citizenship on their resume? I'm wondering if I should do this. I have a 'foreign-sounding' name, and I'm graduating with my MS in Electrical Engineering, so that combination usually means that the person isn't a US citizen even though I am. I'm wondering if people will look at my resume and see MSEE and my name and think "H1-B visa" and toss it in the trash or something.

I was at a career fair last week and the first thing that people asked me was if I was a US citizen.

no one's gonna throw your resume out if you include it.. people might throw it out if you don't include it. so unless you're really pressed for space, i dont see why you wouldnt.

well, if that question comes out immediately, then yes, put it on your resume. otherwise it just looks weird.

I was given (and followed) the advice if your name is foreign-sounding and you are a US Citizen, to include citizenship on your resume.

our career center suggested that everyone put down their employability status as a matter of fact.

the categories were:
1. U.S. Citizen
2. Permanent Resident
3. International Student

i'd put it down just as a matter of fact. it helps distinguish your status to companies. many companies don't mind getting you a H1B visa if you are qualified. the only reason i even distinguish between u.s. citizen and permanent resident is if the employer might handle sensitive information, in which case you would have to get a security clearance.

randomness: if you get the chance to, get a security clearance. if you ever want to switch employers, it'll look very nice if you already have one.

So where on your resume do you guys state that you're a US citizen? I'm thinking about maybe after my contact info at the top... like:

Name
address
address
phone
email
US Citizen

------
