Putting on Socket HSF this is scary!!!!(need advice)

i have a taisol HSF,and the retention mechanism is really stiff,i dont want to apply too much pressure because i dont think the cpu can stand it,what should i do????Im thinking of bending the retention mechanism,so it wont have to go as far to lock into place.will this work? thnx guys

That's what I did to my fop32-1
take off the fan, bend the clip hard about 20 times, should be loose enough then

ok i think i got it,one side tho is just barely underneath the lip,but its on firm. that trick werked but man that clip was a b1tch to bend

If you take the mobo out of the case to install the HSF, and use a small needle nose pliers, it is much easier - although that has its risks too. Be sure the HSF is on the chip square and will remain there - if it comes off that may be the end of your chip.

up nice and snug,ith a thin layer of thermal paste.making good contact from what i can see
