Be grateful you will be with him one last time before he gets put to sleep. I was at college when my previous Corgi died

Even though he may be gone, nothing can take away the times you spent together. And he knows that.

Solomon had a great loving family. He sounds like a quirky corgi, too. As sad as it is to hear that his time has come, it helps bring peace of mind knowing that his life was spent with people he loved and loved him back, proof is right here, saying that you're already missing him and will give him a great breakfast.

It's going to seem very quiet and empty for the next few days; have a drink.

Your story reminds me of how it was toward the end of my dog's life. We got him when I was about 7, then I moved out and our dog stayed with my father as I couldn't take him to the appartments I lived in. It was pretty sad towards the end, I had to move out but I wished I could have had some more time with him towards the end. Just know you're doing the non-selfish thing and he's going to be better off then being in pain every remaining day otherwise. RIP Solomon. 🙁

Sorry to hear man. I've been there before and will go there again. It's tough, but a dog is truly a man's best friend and cannot be replaced by any other animal.

Sorry to hear that man, I went through the exact same thing Monday night, although it sounds like you're a little more prepared for it then I was.

I'm very sorry for your loss, I can't imagine if it was sudden like that

I just got home and we're cooking steaks tonight with a little for him, and pancakes in the morning for him. I just got done digging his grave in the back yard. I know some people look down on it but I personally feel he deserves no less. I'll get some pictures up this evening.

On Monday, it was like a sibling had just been hit by a car and died right away, that's how sudden it was.

Sucks pretty bad, he was a gift from my parents for Christmas when I was 5. He's a black and white corgi. He's been around for every major event in my life and tomorrow I'm taking him in to put him to sleep. He's lived a good life, we have a big back yard that he's been able to play in, and before the other houses moved in he was able to roam the neighborhood freely and enjoy the area. Lately he has been degrading rapidly, he hasn't been able to move his rear legs quite as well and usually just drags them around. His eye sight is fading out, and his hearing is already shot.

I feel like he could stay around a few more months if I didn't do it now, but his quality of life is getting lower and he's begun to refuse dog food. I'm still trying to convince myself it's not necessary, but I know it is. I'm going to go stay at home tonight and spend one more evening with him since I've been at college and haven't seem him much this last year and a half.

Here's to the best dog I've ever known. Solomon, you will be missed and though I will have other dogs in my life, he will hold a special place with me always.

:brokenheart:

Hope someone is nice enough to put me to sleep when my quality of life is all gone. Life is for living, not existing. It's over when you can't hear the fat lady sing anymore.

I'm sorry to hear it man. Sounds like you've given him a great life. Cherish the time you still have with him!

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Yes, I already dug his grave in the back yard 🙁

We just got done with our steak dinner, it was excellent. He seems content for the evening

Prepare yourself , I just put mine and my partners dog to sleep on 17/05/16 ( was her dog but I've known him for over 2 years ) I can honestly say I have never cried so much. I made sure I took plenty of photos , videos of him etc . You will grieve for him/her that's enevitable , hope it goes/went ok

Sorry to hear, was just playing ball with a friend's Corgi yesterday, one of the best ball catchers I've ever seen in real life.

My condolences.

Man, our little fella is only 4 years old and I am already dreading that inevitable day.
