'puter won't shut off. Help!

I don't know what started it, but when I try to shut down my Win98se system it just reboots. I have to apply the power switch at just the right moment to shut the thing off. Probably a corrupted file somewheres. Shy of having to reinstall my OS, anybody have an idea of how correct this ?

Try the shutdown patch first.....
Then try disabling all power management both in Windows
and in the BIOS........Greg

This might be a long shot, but do you have a NIC w/ wake on lan connected to the motherboard? I installed a Linksys 10/100 NIC in my parents P2 300 packard bell, and it wouldn't turn off until I disconnected the wake on lan.
