I'm typing to you from my Dad's old P60 down in the basement. This is because, for some odd reason, my computer will not enter into Windows anymore.
It just started happening like last night. I turned it on and it says "loading Windows 95", than it loads all the things in autoexec, then it freezes with a blinking cursor while still on the dos screen. Safemode works, and I have tried troubleshooting to some extent. I don't really know what to do now though. I tried removing all startup programs, I tried doing "step by step" mode, under the boot menu and disabling the different things such as config.sys, and autoexec. Since I just unhooked the computer from the LAN, I thought maybe it was trying to look for other computers. So I tried removing my NIC.
I have tried looking at "bootlog", and it was pretty short, compared to normal. It stopped when loading my Vortex DOS sound emulation drivers.
I just can't figure it out. It doesn't make sense to just freeze BEFORE it gets to windows. If it is going to freeze, then shouldn't it freeze once it gets into windows?
