Leave today, tell them why. If they want you to stay until 10/3 tell them it's gonna cost a lot.

9/18/2014. By canceled I mean my coverage ended, and it was 2 weeks before my last day. I can't help but be extremely pissed. What I had gotten in a car accident driving to work for them? I have a dentist appointment tomorrow, and if I had not got the letter today I could have been saddled with a huge bill.

I can't help but not enjoy working for large companies. I'm just a number in their payroll database to them. Sad really. I never had this problem in my past jobs where I felt more like a member of a family.

2 Weeks notice is overrated. They won't give you two weeks notice if they can find someone to replace you for less money. The fact that they've already cancelled your insurance means they don't like you already or they are big enough not to care.

I'd go in only to turn in any company owned equipment and take my personal belongings. If they want you to work 3 weeks, they can pay for it. Otherwise, screw them for acting like such assholes.

I would encourage you to be better than they are and to leave with grace, keeping your side of the street clean. It will protect you during your transition and you are the only thing that matters concerning your relationship with them, especially after what they did.

It could be thousands depending on what happens at the dentist. If I went in and got xrays, and they find cavities or anything. Any dentist I have been too bills after the service is rendered. At that point they would have informed me that it looks like the insurance in their file is no longer valid.

It's my plan to try and do this. I've basically killed myself for this company over the last 3 years. In positions where there are supposed to be 5 managers, and all quit or left leaving me. I did the work of 5 people with no additional pay for almost 4 months before they brought in someone else to help me.

They still have had the audacity to try and write me up when things aren't running smooth. This was the point where I decided I was going to leave before they used me as a scapegoat because the place is falling apart. I'm taking a huge pay cut to start a new job, but I had to get out of there because I couldn't deal with how they were treating me any longer.

A simpler, happier life is something many rich men can't afford. Sounds like you are doing the right thing. I'd do it given the circumstances you outlined.
Incase you are burdened with self doubt, remember that you are worth having the ability to say "fuck it" and leaving. Your happiness is worth that regardless of the variety of causes which put you in that position of discomfort.

That's an unusual practice. I'd be interested to see what you plan summary states in regard to termination of benefits. It could just be an administrative error. I would check with HR.

This is a big deal because you could end up with a coverage gap. I wouldn't act like they just terminated you early, but I would go speak with HR immediately and request that the company adhere to the exit terms agreed upon.

Came to post this. Insurances don't like coverage gaps and like you said in OP, if you get injured you could be super screwed. Go talk to them immediately.

Yep....they passed the info on and didn't put an effective date on your departure from the company. They ~may tell you that you still have coverage. That stuff is a little bit weird because insurance is typically prepaid anyhow and prorated...

As for the dentist...I can usually get a simple cleaning for $100. If you're changing companies/policies with insurance, they usually require you to have a dental policy for 1 year before they cover fillings, etc....but those are usually only a few hundred max per filling. I think you're blowing that out of proportion...just a little. You may be able to call your dental insurance company and verify that you're paid up this month....
