I would not have guessed that it was even possible ot puncture a thumb nail with screwdriver, but now I know.

The doc shot my thumb up with Lidocain and removed about a third of my thumb nail. Pics are not too gruesome, but they have blood. View at your own discretion.

Yeah, I got a nice scar in the shape of a cross on the side of my left thumb.

Those bastards BITE!

I bet through the nail REALLY sucks!

Sucks 2 B U. ;)


(It will get better. :) )

And on the bright side, now you have an excuse to get HAMMERED! (like you NEEDED an excuse, ;) )

A related story:

Once when I was playing baseball I was hit in the thumb with a ball and it got all sowllen and purple, so my coach had the great idea to heat up a safety pin and push it through the nail to relieve the pressure.
Only problem: we didn't have a safety pin handy, but fortunately, we did have... a paperclip!

Long story short, I feel your pain, you wouldn't think that that area was so sensitive, would you? At least your doctor gave you some medication, all I got was a lecture, ("thats a good way to get an infection")

I am telling you it was a freak thing. I was up on a ladder attaching a shoe rack to a closet door, using a wood screw. I was a bit stretched out, and was using lots of pressure to get the screw to bite. Instead, the screw slid out, and the drill went straight into my thumb.

One day I was hungover as hell, framing a new house, wasn't paying attention & shot a 16 penny nail clear through my left thumb with a nail gun, between the nail & the bone.

The doctor was impressed that I didn't damage either one of them.

Hurt like hell for a week or so, reminded me to not drink so heavy during the week for a few weeks:D

I wrapped my thumb around a spinning 7/16" drill bit in a drill press once. Stalled the motor. It's an old Delta, no wimpy motor.

Sorry, suspect I toasted a few brain cells during that period of my life:D

Seems to have affeckted my speeling skils along with teh grammer probleems....

I gashed the top of my right foot on Saturday while surfing. I think I hit the fin on my 9'6" after falling off a wave I caught, lost my balance popping up while trying to go backside. Anyway, it hurt like hell and didn't bleed much until I got out of the water. I'm still trying to get it to stop oozing. Wearing work shoes really kills me though during the day.
