While it is not push in the sense that BES is (and can't be without the network RIM has backing it), note that the heartbeat is not a trigger. It simply maintains the HTTPS connection between the device and Exchange server. In practice (we sync Blackberries via BES and WinMo devices via EAS simultaneously on our network as well as simultaneously or separately on our clients' networks), there is no difference. Incoming emails appear on WinMo devices faster than in Outlook inboxes in cached Exchange mode. Sent items go out immediately. Other Outlook items are synced immediately. Ok, there is one drawback, notes require a wired sync to a desktop because of voice notes. I'm interested to see how Blackberries will handle this as the 4.2 OS is supposed to support voice notes.

Just to let you know, I don't really think EAS is a "better" technology than push via BES. I just know what a rabid fanboy you are and wanted to draw you into a discussion.

Treo ? What model. Depending on your service provider you can get good, which while expensive, is pretty useful.

I have the 700p. I seriously get an email every 5 minutes. It's bearable on outlook on a desktop, but if i were out getting emails every 5 min, i would go nuts.

How does a BES do it? Oh yeah, it goes right to Exchange and always has. He's saying it like BB's are behind.

Anyhow, faster than a BES? I often get email on my BB first, before my PC, when sitting in the office on the Corp LAN.
