Purple square with yellow equal sign inside... what is it?

I see that on bumper stickers from time to time, what does it mean? It's just a yellow "=" and thats it... my curiosity lingers...

Pretty sure, it's square, and the yellow lines aren't striping across the whole thing, it's just an equal sign.

There's about 30 different gay/lesbian stickers for various different reasons/associations.

No, not really new...just has a somewhat different meaning from the rainbow stickers. More of a political bent rather than just "I'm gay and proud!!".

I see those all over Boulder too. I think it is affilated with the gay/lesbian movement but not sure. However here is my therory... Since nobody knows what it is, I think it is a secret flag for a secret gay/lesbian militant brigade. You gotta admit the "rainbow" sticker is well... down right fruity but this little symbol has power and orginization behind it.

One could same the same about hetrosexuals and their vehicles. The stickers that I hate the most are the "my kids in on the honor roll" stickers.

Honor roll stickers are pretty dumb as well, but it is recognizing achievement and success... It doesn't push their lifestyle choices down other's throats who could care less...

I would think that putting rainbow stickers on your car would make it more of a target than just being anonymous like everybody else is.

There used to be a band called Picasso Trigger that would hand out "Picasso Trigger sodomized my honor student" stickers at their shows. Gotta love it.

Come to VT and you see a ton of the rainbow's and equal signs, the "new" rainbow. I am so tired of seeing them so what if you are gay tell you friends and family I don't care at all. I know here it pisses quite a few people off they are trying to get rid of the civial union's here. Makes you want to post hetrosexual stickers on everything, just so "they" know that you are proud too, but then again doing "that" would be racist huh? Gotta love double standards.

I just want to jump in here & say something. I've got friends who are gay and active in the GLBT community. billgates & schmedy, what you don't realize is that our entire pop culture is filled with heterosexual imagery. Ads, bill-boards, commercials, magazines - you probably can't walk a block in an urban area without seeing heterosexual imagery - usually in the form of "sex sells, look at this!". So what's wrong with letting a little symbolic imagery for gays/lesbians? There's nothing "disgusting" about a rainbow image. You're not being forced to look at two guys going at it (whereas gays/lesbians see guy/girl going at it all the time in the media; implied if not explicit).

A little tolerance of others can go a long way.

Oh, and it's spelled racist.

So you can use a dictionary to look up words but too lazy too spell? Yes I understand that "racist" isn't the most correct term, but it does work good enough, maybe I should have used alternative lifestyle insensitive? It makes no difference what race or sexual preference you are, and I really don't care who or what you are. Would you like it if everyone in the world had a sticker or sign saying what racial backround, religion they are and what sexuality they are? Man you are a little to PC, get a life.

I have a cousin who's gay, doesn't bother me one bit, all I said is I am tired of all the stickers, I just don't understand why you would flaunt it unless you are looing for a date or something. You don't see people with stars of david on cars, and I know there are tons of proud Jewish people.
