Purenote audio cables 50% sale ends 5/31/06

I'm so glad I'm bascially tone-deaf and can't tell the difference between hi-def wires and wires bought from home-depot.

Look, if you want reasonably priced audio cables, then get these which I highly recommend as an effective cost/performance solution.

But if you want 50% off outrageously expensive cables, then you can't beat purenote!

Don't take this as thread crapping, but these types of cables are snake oil at even half the price. Anybody buying this crap is seriously doing themselves a severe disservice to their wallet. What it comes down to is you will not be able to tell the difference in a double blind test to any well made high guage cable that is $1 a foot. Effectively, these types of cables are a scam. Their descriptions are at best phony pseudoscience.

I wouldn't necessarily call it "snake oil" but I am not necessarily in need of super high-end cables (or equipment for that matter). However, there are discernable differences in cable quality and if I have hearing that is capable of telling the difference between a $800 sony recevier and a $10000 Sunfire that you just bought, I certainly am not going to argue about spending a few hundred more on cables for a >$40000 sound system. Again, I don't buy that stuff because it all sounds pretty much the same to me.

That being said, 50% off is sually a good deal no matter what it is, however, there are a lot of people who SWEAR by better cables (http://www.bettercables.com/index.asp) as the choice for price/performance.

Like anything, there has to be a point of diminishing returns, and $400 for a pair of cables is well beyond that for most people. If you have a cryo-cooled amp, maybe those $800 cables are your thing.

I ordered some 12gauge 100ft speaker cable, two toslinks cables, and a bunch of other things last night from Monoprice. I had a tracking number not long after placing my order, what's so special about that? My order was around 10pm. I have heard nothing but good things about Monoprice, and they have the BEST prices around with good shipping costs. The same 100ft speaker cable would of cost me 5 more dollars to ship and 20 more dollars for the cable itself from PartsExpress.

I have ordered from monoprice on 3 separate occassions and they have been great every time.

Good prices, great service ( I emailed them when I thought I had a problem and they were excellent).

The only benefit to expensive wires typical stems from their very good shielding. Its not really snake oil as shielding helps if you have a lot of components, but the price is just outrageous.

Good shielding does not cost much $$$$ though.

Exactly, for a well made, well shielded, high guage cable (this bluejeans cable for an honest, affordable, and high quality company). You shouldn't have to pay much and the preformance should be the same whether you have a $10000 sunfire or otherwise. The real science goes to prove that. Plus, your sunfire system has to have capable speakers, and a hi-fi source, the list goes on. But NOTHING justifies a $800 or $400 for that matter 1.5 meter cable. That's a straight up con-job. Being conned makes this cold.

That was implicit in my statement. Bluejeans cables are pretty darn good for the $$ for example.

RCA plugs are examples of about the worst engineering known to man, but like DOS under windows apparently impossible to leave behind. HDMI follows in the footsteps of the RCA.

Many HDMI cables won't pass an error free 1080p signal, and the longer the cable the worse it gets. Check the cable to find out what the CERTIFIED bandwidth is, 1080i means it won't do 1080p without errors. Best I have seen are from Markertek.com a pro supply place and their 26ft cable is 1920 x 1280 certified.
