Purchasing new headphones

Sup guys, I was wondering if anyone can suggest me some wireless headphones. My budget is between 30 bucks and 80. I am looking for something to replace my Sennheiser PC150 - the wire was pulled out. I currently have the wire bent and taped - the sound is still good but I don't like this. The headphone won't last this way for long so I wanted to get some new wireless headphones. I contacted Senneiser and they want 35 bucks for them to check the headphone and replace parts or repair. That's how much i spent on buying the headphones. It's a rip off. I should just get new headphones without wire. Any ideas?

Uh...no..because decent wireless headphones are not in your price range (if they even exist).

If you are looking for some headphones without the mic, just get some Sennheisder HD-497s, or Grado SR-60s, or for closed, Senn HD-280s.

How about from ebay or something? I really need new wireless headphones. It will solve all my wire problems.

What wire problems, exactly? Plenty of headphones have detachable cables (meaning that if you yank really hard, the plug will come out, not the wire), and plenty more have very durable cables.

If you absolutely must go wireless, the Sennheiser RS 110 and RS 120 are okay. I strongly advise going wireless only as a last resort, though. Wireless headphones typically suck for the money.

A detachable plug? that's a good idea. Can you name some headphones with that?

Not too many at this price point, actually. More have cords that are not detachable, but are extremely rugged and difficult to pull out.

I did say not too many, not "none". The Sennheiser HD497 and HD485 are good headphones with detachable cords. Despite the model numbering, the HD485 is actually higher-end (and has a better cord).

Not really, no. I've never heard it, I'll say that, but almost all wireless headphones suck, and most of Sony's consumer headphones suck. Even the reviews are bad, and people only give bad customer reviews if they were REALLY disappointed (most customers will give products that suck good ratings because they don't have adequate experience with other products).

If you must go wireless, I don't know of anything better than the RS 1x0 in your price range.

I think I should maybe just get HD497. It's cheaper and reviews are pretty good. I was going to spend up to 80 bucks if it only was wireless. Since the HD497 is wired, I will go with that instead of HD485.

edit: Is HD497 better than PC150?

In terms of sound quality? Yeah, most decent headphones are better than consumer-grade headsets.

Oh, one thing... if you do ever manage to break the cable, you can get a replacement for $7.23 plus shipping from Sennheiser USA. That's the nice thing about detachable cables.. if they break, they're easily replaced with no tools and very little time.

I really wish that there was a good wireless headphone for like 80 though. damn - all the companies rip you off. They prolly make the headphones for like 80 and sell for 200 - who knows?

Probably significantly less than that 😉

Seriously though..why do you need wireless headphones so bad? what is your exact situation?

all the wireless ones i've seen suck. none transmit digitally yet. i figure it would have to be encoded to lossless or something then transfered to save bandwidth? bleh..

these for home? 497's generally cheap at amazon...cords detachable from both ends

Wait, 497's have no volume control? I just read that somewhere in 1 of the reviews.. I am screwed if it has no volume control.

I need wireless for my situtation. Computer is located in another room and wired to LCD TV 37". When the gf is sleeping I like to be able to play with headphones but a wire is not an option. I would LOVE a wireless headphone and mic combo...

Any ideas?

Hey, before I order anything I got 1 more question. A friend of mine told me to get the RS-120 over HD-497. He told me that it will be better than the HD-497. What do you guys say? It is for $72.50 on amazon. Is he wrong or should I go with what he said? I won't be going far so reception isn't really a problem.
