Purchasing items before BF & getting a price match later

For some reason my gf thinks that it is a law that if you purchase an item from a retailer, they have to honor a lower price at that store within a certain number of days. We want to get some BF sale stuf from Belks, but have to hit BBY for a laptop. I'm thinking we can buy the stuff before hand and go over there on Friday to have them price match it, I know BBY did that previously (obviously not for the $500 laptop tho).

Thoughts?

No, it's not a law. Not that i've ever heard of before.

And it's also a pain the ass when annoying customers come up wanting their spare-change back.

Just buy the cheaper one from wherever it is in the first place.

its not a law, but most technology stores have it...
staples, best buy, comp usa, circuit city...

policy states it must be within 30 day. have a printed ad with the lower price, and it must be from a local direct competitor store.

BF sales are not "spare change" with the sh!t they're advertising @ Belk's. I worked in retail too (it sounds like you are now) and if the company has a price guarantee policy (and I don't know of a retail store that doesn't) then they should have to honor that stuff. I know BBY did.

Deal with it grump

I'm not talking about price matching one place to another; I'm talking about buying stuff at Belks pre-BF. Then go back on BF and get a PM to THEIR sale price that day. BBY did the same thing when I worked for them, I see no reason why Belks wouldn't. Saves them on sales item traffic that day anyway.

Many stores suspend their policies during the BF event. CC suspended price mathing last year, for example.

There is no state law requiring price matching that I am aware. I doubt that that is even constitutionally possible (violates the Contracts clause, Negative Commerce Clause, among others).

The BF promotions are designed for the stores to draw people in, not for a few people to buy stuff early, clog up their customer service lines on BF, and cut into their bottom line on the busiest shopping day of the year.

Most stores will do a "price adjustment" within the first 30 days after purchase. I think there may be some states that mandate it, but I'm not certain. But stores can, and often do, put in fine print in ads for things like BF sales that previous purchases are excluded (you can't get a price adjustment on the day of the sale for stuff you bought earlier.)

if its with in the time of the return policy they usually do

doing a price adjustment is pretty much like returning the item and rebuying it, but all on paper

to be clear everyone, its not always 30 days

at compusa the return policy is 21 days, so you have 21 days to return it or price match it

pay attention to the certain companies return policy

I used to work there. I'm pretty sure they let you buy something @ normal price and get it adjusted on BF; excluding special deals like the laptops of course.

I called Belks and what they will do is adjust the price to BF sale IF AND ONLY IF they have the exact same product on the shelves at that time. Pretty fvcking stupid if you ask me

I guarantee you they won't let you buy that before hand. It won't even be on display, only up in top stock. Special sale items like that won't be sold before BF. I worked their last BF and the one before it, trust me ;)

Jebus people, don't you understand that the stores offer the killer deals to get you in the store on black friday, and if they're forced to let you buy early and price adjust or return/rebuy it will no longer be viable or worthwhile for them to take a loss on those items. In an effort to screw the stores you'll end up screwing yourselves. Just wait in line like everyone else.

Yeah, like the both of you wouldnt "buy now price match later" if you could:roll:

On another note, how does the voucher thing work? I read about it in another thread over in Hot Deals. Do they (BB employees) hit the front of the line asking what you are there to purchase and then give you the voucher?

I have no intention to fight a bunch of greedy people to save $25.00 on something
on "black friday".

I refuse to even go in any store except a local small food store.

I went to Staples a few years ago {Novemeber 2002}
for their "BF" Maxtor $50. Rebate "sale"

It took me nearly 6 months to get my refund, and, the store was mobbed 20 mins before opening time.

Fricken hate rebates ever since, you want to have a Sale, drop the price out the door,
rebates Bite.I want the "rebate" instantly.

I found one of the old emails,I also looked in my check book,i deposited the rebate,
May 18th 2003. Sumbitted it December 2nd 2002. :|
