Internet cuts out constantly and wireless is shotty. Even with the internet fine on wired wireless cuts out. Modem resets itself several times a day. Brought in a temp modem worked fine for as long as I was able to keep it there.

There may be another interference as I have been using the 2701HG-B for close to 2 years now and it has been great My wife uses a cheap usb dongle and gets full g speeds about 75 ft and through two floors. It is on 24/7 as I feed data to my weather web page and wunderground and is is rock stable. You can up the power from the 192.168.1.254 home network/wireless settings also try a different channel, of course you could have a faulty one but it might be worth a try first. also try the forums at dslreports lots of info there.

may be a bad modem/router, there have been reports, also could be interference, calling att may get a free replacement, from att they cost $70.00, i am very happy with mine, 2.4ghz phone can cause interference, a battery operated am radio can help find static noise.

just some thoughts.

Sounds like it's giving up the ghost. As an alternative, you could try a couple of things -- reorient it to improve cooling, and set it up in bridge mode with the wireless disabled to reduce the load.

I had tried all your suggestions before as to avoid the cost of replacing. But I ended up replaceing as none of them worked. I now have a motorola 2210 modem, BEFSR41 router to handle dhcp and PPPoE and a WAP4400N that I had lying around the house so that was no cost. The only thing I might have misread but am not sure if it was me or the website. On bestbuys website they said the motorola can support dhcp server. Well idk if it was because of the att software but it did not do that what so ever.

When I talked to att last night about it they said that it will only hand out one ip address. So I ended up buying a router as well.
