purchasing an hd enclosure

hey,

I need some extra storage space on my laptop and I want to put the following hard drive which my friend will let me use:

seagate 400gb serial ata
(newegg link)

into an enclosure to use on my laptop.

Is there anything I need to think about besides getting an enclosure that is internal interface for SATA? I was thinking about getting this one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...p?item=N82E16817424001

I have never done anything like this in the past and have no experience with different hard drives. Any help will be appreciated.

thanks,
nab

edit: do i need some kind of special slot on my laptop for it to work?

The enclosure you're looking at has both USB 2.0 and eSATA outputs.
The internal drive connection is SATA.
As long as your laptop has a USB port, and you're not running Windows 95, you shouldn't have any problems using your friend's 400GB Seagate SATA drive in the enclosure.

I assume you laptop does not have an eSATA controller and port on it, so you will use USB. That will be fine. This unit has its own power supply brick, which is good. Some units take their power from the USB port, and can be a load on the laptop and port. This one won't do that when you use the power brick.
