$650 MSRP, marked down to $299 with a $50 MIR, I just couldn't pass it up. Had to get the charcoal flavor, it's just sick!

Can't wait to learn on this bad boy!

**Edit** 4 days of playing. I'm really liking it so far. Averaging about 3-5 hours of practice a day. Have my fret board memorized, gettin the idea of hammerons, pulloffs and slides. Great Purchase!!!

Nice! I got the C-1 Elite (I think, at least) for $300 as well (marked from $600ish), roughly a year ago.

How do you like it so far? My friends have never played schecter and I felt like being different. I've done my research and whatnot, but what are your thoughts?

Do you know how to play guitar?

You shouldn't get a guitar with jumbo frets until you are good at playin.

Next door neighbor has been playing for 25+ years and pointed me in the direction of this guitar. He told me it all depends on the player and personal preference. We'll see how it goes, thanks for the advice though!

I hope you're a virtuoso on the guitar else you're gonna be out of tune all the time.

I've been playing my Schecter 006 deluxe for a few years now (recorded everything in my sig links with it)

I love the finish on that charcoal model...nice 🙂 Looks like it has better tuners (mine are poor) 24 vs 22 frets and nicer pickups...should be sweet.

A year from now that guitar will be gathering dust in the corner near your couch. 96.43% of people who start to learn the guitar fail or give up within a year. Everyone knows this.

😕

I'm wondering why you would say this? Frets don't keep a guitar in tune, the tuning machines do. You seem intent on pooping in his Cheerios for some reason.

this is unfortunately kind of true.

Keep on practicing, even when you feel like you totally suck and when your fingertips are about to fall off!

Man, listen to all these Debbie Downers and Dream Killing Keiths! Let the man have his day.

Learning to play an instrument, if you're committed, is one of the most rewarding endeavors in life. It gives you a goal, purpose, and one more way to communicate with others and express yourself.

When I'm done with grad school, I'll be revisiting this dream. I have a broken finger that I need to get corrected first, which will involve a doctor breaking and resetting, so I'm probably quite a ways out from getting started.

Enjoy your new axe, OP

They're just being realistic.

It takes many, many hours to get good at any instrument and most adults don't have the time, patience, or discipline to follow through.

It's not a knock on them - it's life.

Nice dude, congrats. Just try to get into a good daily practice routine, especially if you're just starting out.

Also, what amp are you plugging it into?

Nice price

One suggestion though, replace the pickups in it with something else. It'll cost you 100 bucks or so and your tone will be improved dramatically.

Oh I know... but let's give him the benefit of the doubt that he knows, too 😉 . No reason to rain on his parade

yeah....it's about your drive and what you want to do. I stopped playign during college b/c i got so busy. I went from a good player to what the hell am I doing....

I started playing again. The amount of hours I have dedicated this past year is wow. My gf has even been forced to adjust since the guitar is always in my hand now. I can tell she gets fustrated by the amount of time I spend playing, but she backs off when she sees how much effort I put in to it. Porblem is, I took lessons when I was little, then I quit b/c I thought it was hopeless....then I picked it up again, started teaching myself to further my progression. I quit again, but now I am at it again and picking up where I left off. I am not quiting this time.

Congrats Now it's up to you on how far you take it. Start looking for a teacher for lessons. I find it's better to have a teacher than a player friend to get you started. Get your axe checked out and setup. Schector has been real sloppy in last couple of years with their quality control and setups coming out of Burbank.
Practicing is just like exercise, you must make time for it everyday. Also learn the difference between practice and just playing around.

Played tuba/baritone/trombone for 7 years and quit just last year. Another instrument shouldn't be so bad.

Plus, i miss music like a motherfucker.

Thanks for all of the kind wishes everyone 🙂 It came in today. Gonna get to work on it tomorrow!

Schecter's are really nice guitars. The ones ive messed with typically have a nice action and fast necks.

I wouldn't worry about changing out the pickups right away. You won't notice much difference between the stock pickups and some real Duncans if you are playing through a 10 watt Crate amp, and playing the correct notes will be much more important than how it sounds starting out.

The frets might and might not give you some grief. I've been playing and Epiphone SG for the last couple of years with standard Gibson medium fretwire, and I just built a guitar with super jumbo frets. It is definitely a different feel, and takes a much lighter touch. I tend to really grip the neck hard because I'm a bass player, and it's really easy to stretch the strings enough to throw an open D chord out of tune. It will eventually make a better player out of me.

Comparing playing brass to an electric guitar is well.. not even remotely close. 🙂 Being able to read music will surely help, but that's it. That said, as long as you have the drive.. you'll progress. It doesn't take more than a few weeks to get a few easier songs down. Good luck man, I picked up my first guitar a few months ago and I've been loving it ever since. 🙂
