I want to purchase a Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1 key today and not wait Newegg/Amazon to ship me a disk. Supposedly I can purchase a key from Microsoft but their website just leads you in an endless loop of Windows 8.1 info and no place I can see to actually purchase the key. I read that it is supposed to be available on Digitalriver but cannot find anyway to purchase it there or in the MS Store.

Run the trial or re-arm the trial and wait for key to come if you can't find a digital download purchase.

Amazon says MS stopped selling retail Windows 7 keys, so you can only buy the OEM system builder ones.

Back in March I went with Discount Mountain and it was a great experience. All in one day.

Thanks for that info. Not sure the term but if I choose to rebuild that PC or HD is that version portable? Can I put it on a CD? Or does it work that way~?

Also when it says back up what about the base motherboard files that I loaded when I built the system. Do I need to reload all them?

It provides the instructions for flash drive install, but I just burned the iso to a DVD.

If you have a CD already with a used key you can install the software and when you put in the old key and it tells you that it is no longer valid it will give you the option of purchasing a key from Microsoft. That's what I did with my laptop I just got. I forgot to write the website address down though.

Thanks for the suggestions, I ended up just downloading and installing it from digitalriver and ordering the package from Amazon. It is supposed to be here today so I can just enter the number and be done. I am replacing a system for my 85 year old mother who has dementia so there is no way she could deal with Windows 8.
