I'm deciding between an i7 3770K or an Asus 144Hz (VG248QE) monitor, which do you think will be a more worthy upgrade right now? I'm currently using an Acer 60Hz monitor which isn't bad but has some ghosting, and my i5 3550 (OC'd to 4GHz) is still going strong but I want to get an i7 3770K and OC it to go a couple more years on this system.

What GPU do you have? The difference between a 3770k and your 3550 is going to be quite small in games.

The VG248QE is the gsync monitor, so presumably you have an nvidia GPU? If so I would say the monitor and gsync is going g to be a big improvement.

Gigabyte R9 280X, no bottleneck so far. And yeah the Asus is GSync ready but you have to buy an addon card for it.

Since my 3550 won't go past 4GHz (102.74 BCLK), I want to get the 3770K and get it to 4.5-4.6GHz down the road, if I buy the monitor now I will eventually get the CPU later.

I also looked at the BenQ 144Hz monitor but from what I hear from friends and online players there's some input lag which the Asus monitor doesn't have. And the Asus monitor has bad color accuracy which can be fixed via a downloaded profile.

I doubt you will get much of a noticeable upgrade out of a 3770k. Go with the monitor, especially if you have some ghosting going on with the one you have now.
