This time I'm looking at hard drives, I'm the type that's trying to cut down power consumption as much as I can. Which do you think would be a better choice. I know the rated wattage power consumption is listed spec, but would there be that much of a difference in real usage? I play games mostly and record gameplay videos as well.

1x Seagate 2TB 3.5" Hybrid SSHD ~8W
2x Seagate 1TB 2.5" Hybrid SSHD ~2.2W each

2.5" laptop HDDs use less power in actual usage as well as on paper. From my understanding hybrid drives really aren't worth the extra money, but I haven't used it myself. That's just the word on the street.

These are such small power figures that I really don't think its worth worrying about unless you are on a battery. ~2w is going to amount to basically nothing. Just get whatever is cheaper per GB

6W difference in power consumption is gonna take a few years of 24/7 runtime in order to save a $ on the power bill. If you are going to be using this SSHD in a desktop, just go with whichever one is cheaper.

I have also heard and seen bad reviews of the SSHDs (as in not faster than an ordinary HDD), but I have not actually used one to see if it's really any faster than a HDD.

Yes I have read bad reviews about SSHD's as well and have had my hands on an older Momentus XT which was somewhat unreliable but was faster than a 7200rpm drive.

I got a gift card for Christmas and found a few drives within the price range ($100-110 on sale) for them. I'll probably just get the 2TB 3.5" drive then if it's little difference in actual use.

The only reason why I would choose a 2.5" drive (rather than 3.5") for a desktop is if you ever intend to use it in a laptop.
