what happen to Dailytech links on Anandtech front page?

Ryan smith confirmed that the DT was a spinoff of anandtech news and their contract has expired. Interesting timing if you ask me.

thanks. 95% of the reason why I go to Anandtech.com is because of DT.

After 8 years with DT (and 15 years with the AT family), I left late last month. I had an inside track (of course) to what was going on post Anand's move to Apple, but the uncertainty caused me to explore alternative options.

Just me. I'm insisting that the mod team at Tom's stay the heck away. I don't want what is essentially a new addition to the Purch family looking like a full-scale invasion, because it isn't. It's me, just me, crossing over. At some point, my assistant Kevin might stop by to help with triaging forum bugs and outstanding issues, but that'd be it.

anyone with experience with Tom's forums before and after the their purchase? read a couple of articles from that site but never visited forums

I was CM at Tom's before TechMedia Network merged with Bestofmedia and then became Purch. Just like with this, very little changed, and what did had full community involvement and beta testing when we rolled out new features and things. It was scary (all mergers and acquisitions are), but the fear was wholly unwarranted. But these are just words - actions speak far louder, and I hope you'll give us an opportunity to prove ourselves.

It's still a relatively new brand, as of 2014. Purch is what was TechMedia Network and Bestofmedia, which combined Power Rangers style into a megazord.

Tom's Hardware and Anandtech share this in common far more than anything else: insatiable accusations of fanboi-ism. Now my canned response for when accusations of being in the tank for Apple/Samsung/MS/Nvidia can be applied to Anandtech as well! Yay efficiency!

Super, super common. Ugh, SO VERY COMMON. But really, we're not going to change anything. Unless you want us to. And even then, just small stuff. Slowly.

I don't know if you noticed, but the industry has contracted significantly, Anand has moved on, and this isn't a sellers market.

That said, Purch is one of the few investors, if not the only one, that could make sense. To still play the 'elitist' game with a fellow pc comrade site is overlooking the fact that the war is over, we lost (pc's), and this is much further on the brighter side of the spectrum of possibilities that could have happened to AT, including it's forums.
