What we should take away from this is you all take the forum very personally.

Like a home on the internet that you've committed years to. This level of community is the glue that popularized Anandtech. We keep coming back, we tell everyone we cross about this place. Or at least I hope we do.

The site and its forum have a fandom, like a TV series.

I know you said "no changes", several times, business as usual. If any radical changes were implemented, not at the request of forum members, when do you guess it would happen?

Next week, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year from now, etc.?

Perhaps some current/former TomsHardware members can comment on when the changes happened there?

Also will a formal announcement regarding the acquisition be sent to all forum members via e-mail? There are tens of thousands forum members who haven't visited in months or years, perhaps they'll welcome our new overlords and become active again?

Mostly it's noobs though and when a noob attacks some of the old guard back them up on certain members.

That certain member says "Hey, I have two thumbs pointing at me!"

Are the forums moving? Because we've got some legit old-timers here, and I'm worried that they wouldn't make it.

Boomer wouldn't even get across the Missouri, and I think that Olds, like a mama hamster approaching winter, will just lock the door and devour all the prisoners in his basement before anyone can drag him out.

No radical changes made not at the request of forum members. Actually, no radical changes at all. Radical changes are generally disruptive. How utterly dumb it would be to go and start making radical changes to a fully functioning, growing community?

Isn't it normally a bit more than once a week? I'm not sure how I feel about that. In a way it would be pretty nice, but if the forums never went down I'm not sure when I'd sleep.

The name Conde Nast reminds one of travelling to exotic locales. Purch reminds one of scoring drugs in an abandoned parking lot at 2AM. I might just give ARS Technica a third and fourth chance.

to me it sounds like a play-on-words name dreamed up by some venture capitalist back in 1997 during the dot-com boom. (Purch.. as in we purchase things..)

and we all know how well that worked out 😉
