Purch Acquires AnandTech, Dominates Tech Expert and Enthusiast Market

Of course not -- anyone with 3 brain cells knew when he left that this place was going to be sold despite any assurances to the contrary. He would've been insane NOT to sell it IMO.
Exactly. Nobody with a lick of sense would not have sold it and to start what he did at age 14 and have it grow to what it became, well, we know he's smart. The only one thing constant in life is change. Changes will come that is assured. If the forums take a dive it may just be time for some introspection on my part. I waste far too much time here. It's not good for my health.

That's quite sad considering a lot of them were good reviews (some a little biased, especially apple ones, but still good information).

Unneeded. I haven't bought a bad tech product yet, and nothing I've bought was influenced by professional reviews.

I can't really blame Anand for cashing in, but hate to see this happen just the same. Watching this site grow from very humble beginnings and being a part of that in a small way has been enjoyable. I have visited pretty much daily since 1998 and hope that things won't change too badly for the worse.

I've been here daily myself since, it was either 1997 or 1998. We got the first computer in our household in '97 but I don't know if I joined here then or the next year. I was at the site in the Geocities days. I was here under another username and asked to have it changed but got no response so I just created my current username.

Interestingly, or maybe not, I've been reading a lot of the Guides geared towards the holidays at the main site recently. That, after pretty much ignoring the main site for a long time. I have had it as my homepage since the beginning though. The Guides have touched on the exact items I've been interested in at this point in time.

Thanks for bringing this up. Instituting a no GRAPES policy on Tom's Hardware was vetted by the moderators and the community at large, and arose due to a tremendous number of problems we were encountering. What works for Tom's may not work for Anandtech, and what works for Anandtech may not work for Tom's. The two are very different communities culturally and by identity. As I mentioned in my FAQ above, we won't be exporting any policies to or from - and that includes the no GRAPES policy.

And at what point in the near future will the "moderators and the community at large" decide to implement similar changes here? I'm guessing the moderators at Tom's and the community at large had less to do with those forum policy changes than the owners, advertisers and legal departments did.

If they implement GRAPES here, I'm leaving. I have a spare domain and would probably start my own forums. Might not be popular, but I've run forums before and would rather go that route than stick around to see AnandTech go to crap.

Nope. See earlier comments and answers on the no GRAPES policy and making no changes to the way Anandtech community works. Not here to change or alter things.

Nope, no changes. Changes? Nope. Not changing the way things are right now. Changes are not occurring. Of the changes set to occur, there are none. As for the time being, no changes. The limited dynamism of structural and policy states within the context of this forum are highlighted, herein, in the assertion of a minimum to zero alterations. "Hey Mister jpishgar, got any change?" No, no I do not. In a mirror universe where everything is opposites, so much change is set to take place on the Anandtech forums - so very, very much. Stasis, status quo, equipoise, abiding, immutable, nonfluctuating, adamant.

That said, if you want to see some changes, they'll be coming from you, at your request per consensus.

I will just set this down again right here... just in case anyone missed it.

And say I told you so... ahead of time.

Goddamn you guys are being a little bit pessimistic about this....
Hop on that mat guys and take a turn!

It's literally like he's telling us "You're stupid, you're really stupid, like just completely retarded."

That's the only way I can read that quote.
