I was at a rollerderby game last night and noticed quite a bit of 20s-50s nostalgia among the punk rock set. Girls dressed like Bettie Page, living versions of that Rosie the Riverter drawing, guys wearing zoot suits, swing dancing during half time... Where did that all come from?

I listened to punk casually growing up and don't remember any Americana nostalgia - sex pistols, the ramones..etc. etc. The only thing that comes close maybe was the ska revival of the 90s, and the maybe two rockabilly bands of the same era (really, not a movement but cherry poppin daddies and a few more fringe bands). But that all seemed like a lame fad that lasted a few months, not a movement that's still relevant in 2010. Is there a big underground swing movement I don't know about, or are people stuck in the 90s?

That's ALL 40's-50's stuff. The 20's and 30's don't pertain.
