You have to travel back in time (or at least buy an older CD :p) to find the good stuff for either one. Right now I think they both suck equally.

Tough call, but I voted punk. Country music has turned into bland pop-like pap with a slight twang, whereas punk has little redeeming value. (I'm thinking punk as in Black Flag and other old school bands..) They can't sing and they can't play their instruments.

Blink182 and Green Day are not punk.

funny how you can accept that country music has turned into something, but refuse to recognize the newer branches of punk

But both have their bad sides..

Today's country lyrics are completely laughable
and
today's milliionaire mall punk messiahs (sum41, good charlotte) lack any substance

i bet you a million dollars that you don't listen to sum 41/know sh1t about them.

as far as the poll is concerned, i vote for country. just opinions, i don't like country so that's what i voted for. i listen to mostly punk, i love it.

You're right, I don't listen to them.. but I've heard/seen enough to realize they are nothing more than a caricature of punk.

I used to listen to punk rock. In fact, I was very submersed in the whole cullture. I saw Green Day play in front of 20 people for $5.
Three years later, kids that used to think me and my friends were weird all of a sudden thought we were cool. But I don't hold them or
any other group responsible for the demise of punk, it was coming anyways. The mainstream is always on the hunt for finding that new, hip, underground sound to expoit and milk (punk, electronica, hiphop, swing, etc..)

Punk is more than just music. It's a lifestlye and attitude. And it's played on turntables, not TRL

Punk owns all of you! Punk concerts are the most fun out any shows you will see. Period.
Country blows. Ill admit, they can play their instruments well, just not my style. Their vocals suck. Sometimes, their women are hott. Thats all I have to say about country.

Generally I don't listen to bands I don't like.

Just like you probably don't listen to country, but still voted for it.

actually, i think that title has to go to ska :p

same crowd dynamics as punk, except a little less violent, throw in skanking, and the band dances around and is wackier

I've been listening to punk rock since i was 15 (I'm almost 20 now) and well, I must say I love it.
First band that I ever listened to was Bad Religion and that got me hooked on punk.

At first, all the emo/pop-punk sub-genre to me was a bunch of crap, but with time I started appreciating it.
Yes it's kinda unusual for someone like me to be listening to the "l33t" punk rock and at the same time the "sell out" punk, but hey, they sound good to me....

So yeah, I do listen to Good Charlotte, New Found Glory, Blink, but can't forget about Pennywise, Bad Religion, AFI, No Use For a Name, H2O, Living End (has some kind of rockability, they're from Australia), Lagwagon, NOFX, Millencolin, Deviates, etc etc

blah blah

i hate the whole "that band is punk" and "that band isn't punk" crap. who cares. oh by the way, Sum 41 never said they were punk. Deryck (singer/guitar) said they're just a rock band. i happen to like their music and lyrics, so i listen to them. and true, i don't really listen to country, but i've heard enough to know i don't really enjoy that style of music. i love getting in my car, putting in some Pennywise or NOFX and just blasting it. fvck yeah.

Yes, and they all admit it. Not like country, which sucks and professes to it's inbred admirers to be good.

Then it would have been a hard call to make.
