While I never trust a single review, I do usually check to see if there is a consensus one way or another among professional reviewers. If it's getting a lot of bad reviews, I'll just wait to watch it home (if at all). This one will be a rental/HBO.

I asked this in the last Punisher thread, but no one answered. So I figured I would throw it in here.

To all reviewers:

If you had to choose to sit through Punisher again, or wacth The Hulk again, which would you choose?

I LOVED the movie. Loved it, loved it, LOVED IT. It's going on my DVD must-buy list. The only thing that wasn't all that great was when (*spoiler*) Saint gets shot at the end. I thought it was the end of the movie and was all down about how anti-climactic it was. Then all the explosions hit and him being dragged through the parking lot, followed by the overhead scene of the Punisher skull in flames. Sensationally kickass.

The woman and I are going to it tonight, so I'll let you know how it was later.

Well it was actually a pretty good flick. There was a good blend of humor & action, and the action was especially brutal. I wasn't expecting much, but I was very pleasantly suprised. :)

It was paced pretty well. There really wasn't any long, drawn-out scenes and there wasn't any long breaks between the action scenes. It did take a few minutes to get going, but once the initial..."assault" occurs it really picks up steam.

My roomate and his girlfriend went and saw it tonight. He's planning on buying the DVD and seeing it again. He also was like 'OH, MAN, it kicked SOOO much ass! IT was AWESOME so cool best movie EVAR.' Usually, that means a fairly mediocre movie.

One is "Staind - So Far Away," IIRC.

There are things in the trailer that are not in the movie.

The Punisher was garbage. Lousy acting, music, action sequences, you name it. People were leaving part way through.

In answer to the question posed, I would watch The Hulk ten times before I would watch The Punisher again.

I thought it kicked ass. Despite it's crap reviews, it was 10x better than Hellboy which we saw last week which got above average reviews. There wasn't much character development - the hot neighbor was worthless - the two kids were worthless except for that one kid not ratting on him. They could kill and gun down a 4 year old kid but not kill/torture 2 worthless teenagers? But all in all it was a fun movie to watch.

It looks like it deviates too far from the comic. I have no hopes for it, but I'm planning on seeing it.

Hellboy rocked though, go check it out.

Hellboy was great, and had more people seeing it than The Punisher last night. :p

The punisher, as a character, is harder to get a grip on for younger generations. A vietnam vet, whose family was killed to get back at him?

Plus, the violence and language probably isn't the best for children.
