What the hell were you expecting from this thread? I can't help but notice that after getting flamed for 2 pages you haven't posted again, OP. You get punched in the face twice by your ex and then go out to dinner with her, apparently under the guise of getting your 3 fitty back, and what do you expect? Pity? Commiseration? You two are obviously both morons.

You make a good point that men in those situations completely get screwed (the physical violence aspect) but that the fact that you're aware of that makes it even MORE stupid you'd continue to get in a car with her when you know she's violent. Your 300 dollars is gone, use this time and energy to do something more useful, like going to night school or anything that'll make a few of those brain cells start firing again
