I just had some blue moon pumpkin ale and it tasted like a bar of soap with a pumpkin aftertaste.

I bought a 12 pack of Saranac Seasonals and it was the most disgusting stuff ever. Don't think Pumpkin Ale was in there though, maybe I'll have to try some.

I had it out of tap, i've never seen the bottles around. but there are definetely some beers that taste like a$$ out of a bottle, but taste great from the tap.

Had a Blue Moon Pumpkin last night and thought it was OK. Didn't have an orange slice and that might have helped.

Buffalo Bills in Hayward brews a pumpkin ale.

But I loves my Stone Brewing Russian Imperial.

I like the Blue Moon Pumpkin ale. It's got a nice rich smooth flavor... doesn't taste like soap at all. As a matter of fact this is my 2nd choice to Newcastle. Anyone have other suggestions for good seasonal ale?

I've tried a few, seems like regular beer with some "pumpkiny" spices added. Tastes like beer with a ginger snap aftertaste. Not my cup of tea (or bottle of beer.)

I had some at Beerfest this past weekend. I don't have the program with me at work, but I'll go home and find out which label.

It wasn't bad but it wasn't that great either. If it was free I'd consider it drinkable, just not a whole six pack at once though.

The best pumpkin beer hands down is made by a brewery called Shipyard and the name of the brew is Pumpkinhead. Talk to anyone in new england and they'll know what you are talking about.

This man speaks the truth! I had it at my favorite bar on tap and it was great!

Stay away from SmuttyNose Pumpkin beer. Bleh!

Blue Moon = Coors. Coors = Suck.

I've had some pumpkin ales...don't remember the brand but they were drinkable. Better than that Sam Adams Cranberry stuff. But I wouldn't spend money on it again.

Blue Moon is a Belgin Whit beer (a lager). The Blue Moon Pumplin Ale is an Ale (as one might suspect), so you shouldn't need an orange slice in it like you normally get served with Blue Moon.

I bought some of the Pumpkin Ale this year and it tastes much like the Pumpkin Ale I brewed last fall.

Sam Adams Ocktoberfest remains my favorite fall time beer.

I didn't like it either, and I LOVE Blue Moon usually. Weird, I'll definitely try some of the others in this thread.

Not to be excessively picky, but Belgian wits (or witbiers) are in fact ales.

Whether a beer is top or bottom fermented should have no bearing on the garnish. Germans/Belgians don't garnish their wheat ales with fruit like Americans tend to... probably because the true witbiers and hefewiezens have enough flavor that they don't need orange/lemon to prop them up.
