Ever since playing Team Arena, Alice, and watching DVD movies on my machine, i've decided that it's time to move away from my 2 Altec spkrs w/ a woof setup and a SB16 card(which i had for years!)

Anyways... i've been trying to find a good deal for a new setup and this is what i found, all from buy.com

SB Live! X-Gamer 5.1 $86.95
Desktop Theater 5.1 DTT2200 5 SATELLITES SUBWOOFER $110.95

get the 30 off $150 purchase then everything should come out to around $170 NOT including s/h

I haven't ordered yet, but i thought i'd let u guys in on this before i do it today...

All in all, a good setup (5.1 baby!) for a good price... ;)

You'd have to pay for tax and shipping in CA. It's better to order the same thing from outpost so you don't have to pay tax and shipping. The speakers are heavy so it would cost a fortune for shipping. The prices at outpost are a little bit higher but the free shipping and no tax would more than make up the difference.

actually i just put together the order on buy.com
they charged an extra $16 s/h and NO tax, so it came out to $184.08
which beats out outpost which totaled $209.90

plus outpost doesn't have the speakers availalble yet...

thx for the heads up though :)

I dont know if Staples carries the speaker system but you can price match the sound card to Compuplus.com for $78.00 then use the $25.00 off of $75.00 and you get the card for $ 53.00 plus ship. Then do your speakers from buy.com on a separate deal. I think this would come out better , let me know if im wrong.

chiller, do you live in CA? If not, then of course there's no tax for you. If I order from buy.com then it would be about $200 also due to the tax. Yes, outpost.com has no tax for me according to pricegrabber.com

The Sound Blaster X-GAMER card at Staples is not 5.1. I am hoping they get that soon so that I can jump in!

well i tried avoiding the high-end even though it comes with a receiver/remote and Dolby decoder u could try getting the DTT2500 which has the decoder but not the receiver... that would come out to about $250 total

DTT2500

but i'm not sure if i'd fork over an extra 150 for the receiver/remote and decoder (although tempting!)
