they are on sale @ amazon for $527, couldn't pass it up...Anyways is there a faq on how to set up the Audyssey? or is there anything critical I have to set before calibrating with it (subwoofer etc)?

I've been lagging on buying a reciever that decodes the newer surround formats, pretty excited to watch some movies and listen to music.

It will be hooked up to:

emotiva xpa-5
ps3
Vizio 55" LED LCD
B&W 805s (fronts)
B&W HTM4 (center)
velodyne spl-800r
Monitor Audio bookshelves (surrounds)

Would Audyssey help alleviate that problem where music tends to be louder than everything else? I'll be watching TV shows in my room and have to turn it down from -26 to -36 whenever music is on because it's just too loud :p.

You got a great deal OP. I bought the Denon 2310 about a month ago for $499 and have been working on getting it all set up and configured. I'm impressed so far, but it is a little overwhelming with all of the possibilities.

At the time, the 3310 was around $150 more IIRC. I definitely preferred it but couldn't justify an extra $150. I COULD justify an extra $30, however. Darn it!

The 2310 (and I am sure the 3310) has a feature called Dynamic Volume, which is supposed to automatically adjust volume to keep it constant regardless of whether it is a show, commercial, etc. You have to run the Audyssey setup to activate it, which I have not yet done on mine.

I actually have a 1910 and a 1610, which I know has MultiEQ, and I assume dynamic volume. The 3310 is the model with the nicer OSD overlay, right? Seeing that ugly DOS-like menu on my 1x10 models makes me wish I would've spent a few extra bucks :p.

I'd guess it has the same OSD as the 2310, which is pretty nice. Don't expect Avatar-like visuals, but they aren't bad. :) They even have a little color.

The 3310 has an ethernet port, which is a great option for firmware upgrades, streaming audio, etc. I moved up to the 2310 because at least it does have a serial port, making any potential firmware upgrades easier to manage. With the 3310 only $30 more, I'd definitely recommend it over the 2310.

Aikouka - when you mean music do you mean playing CDs or music coming through your TV? because the wont be at the same level unless you force it to be as they are completely different signals. if not then dynamic volume should fix it. the 1910 has it IDK about the 16

yeah, ive been playing the waiting game ever since the new models came out. I thought it wouldn't be until after thanksgiving till these dropped. Yesterday i randomly checked amazon and said screw it, I don't think these can drop that much lower...

this might not apply to denon but EExpo is not an authorized seller for some of the products they sell and because of that you CANT get warranty on some products

they are an authorized denon dealer. doesn't matter though, as I get an error when trying to add it to my cart.

Yeah, Amazon is an authorized Denon reseller and I believe Onkyo as well. Not sure about EExpo.

Ah, I mean background music in a movie or TV show or how most TV show's opening credits have themes, which play louder. Fortunately, some shows play them at the beginning, so I know to adjust the volume beforehand :p.

the 16 has audyssey dynamic volume as well which should help with this.
