Agreed.

Even without oil I don't see his happening. I mean WTF!!!

Piston would've have had to wobble to such a point that an edge dug into the side.

The block has to be toast.

yeah, the worst case scenario for no oil is pretty much a snapped rod or broken crankshaft (unlikely) but wtf happened to this thing? looks like someone took a sledgehammer to it

If the core was in good shape he could get a rebuilt for 1k, but since its obviously not, hes gonna check and see what they'll give him for it as a core, I'm guessing total should be 1.5-2.5k

Possible to bore out both cylinders, then resleeve. New pistons, rings, rods possibly, and all the other stuff. Get the oil injector(s) working again...The machining will be the biggest expidenture, unless you have access to a machine shop at your college/HS.

were planning on reboring the cylinders, but want to make sure the lower end isn't mangled since theres probably lots of metal shavings down there. if its gonna be over 1k to rebuild ourselves, were going to go with a complete warranty and atleast get a 1 year warranty on the motor than:p

The crankshaft is probably all ball & roller bearing, they are pressed together. Cleaning the shavings out of the caged rollers in the con-rod journals is near impossible without a disassembly of the crank. If the rods don't have removable
caps, that means the crank has to be pressed apart. This work ha$ a price.

I raced outboard boats as a teen and rode dirt bikes in my 20's. Strokers run best, just before they blow-up :p

Good luck in your adventure.

Good reference site http://yamahajetboaters.com/forum/index.php
Site is run by jeff , a ls2000 owner . Lots of owners helping owners.
An interesting way to avoid oil injection problems is to disable it and premix the fuel . This is not the best answer , but does lubricate the engine well.
Try the site , lots of tricks , tips , and vendors suggested.
Sea doo has a similar owners forum , but I believe (?) thier engines are rotax and merc ; where the Yamahas are Yamaha powered.
