I'm on my way home from work tonight, not even a half mile from home, when I stop at a light and a cop stops next to me in the next lane. I looked to my left and saw the lady cop's jaw drop open. Light turns green, I go and they get behind me and pull me over.

I just rolled the window down and handed my Driver's license out to her male partner. He goes, "wanna know what I stopped you for?" I said, I already know. Then he asked me if I know that side windows are not supposed to be tinted. I said, yes, for ordinary folks, probably not. Then he says, I really didn't expect to see someone your age.....I expected a much younger person. So, I told him the same story I've told the other two times......My wife takes a medication, which makes her sensitive to sun.

He goes back, runs my license, and then returns, gives it back to me, ans says "have a nice night"

No fix it ticket, so far. These are not just tinted, but Limo dark. :D

Is the wife story true? Or some BS just to you will get out of the ticket? I've put limo tint on all of my cars I've had in the past, and just recently picked up a 2003 Cobra, and im planning on doing it to that too.

I have my front windshield tinted. It has really cut back that amt of headaches ive had. I have a dr's note in the glove box that says the tint is needed due to migraines.

I might get one of those doctor notes just incase I tint my next car all the way around...not too bad, probably 25% in the back half and then 35% up front. I do have sun/glare issues, but it's not horrible.

I'm failing to understand why your story, even if it were true, would cause them to not give you a ticket if it's against the law.

Is there a "...medical condition.." clause in the law or something?

She has a prescription for it. Technically, the car is still illegal at night, but when I tell them the story, so far they havent messed with me. She was having some clotting problems and takes a blood thinner. The name of it is COUMADIN

You are allowed tinting for medical cause.

Obviously this was a discovery by accident. OTOH, I'm glad I don't drink and drive. I'd have gotten 3 DUI's by now, if I was. ;)

Funny thing is, years ago, my son brought a car down here to CA from Washington. At that time, Washington did not have strict rules on tinting. His first week here, he got pulled over and the cop took a razor blade and stripped his windows on the spot. :Q

Hehe, when I was a teen, we smoked our windows "Cheech n Chong" style.

Yeah, the cops in Mississippi hate tinted windows with a passion. My friends always got stopped for them.

Cutting people off, running over northerners and minorities, driving while on fire, they don't care about any of that. Just so long as they can see you inside while you're doing it.

There's a reason why cops dont like driver and passenger windows tinted... it's not just because they're sticking it to you, but if you windows are tinted that dark, they cant see you. When they cant see you, they get nervous. When they get nervous cops pull their guns.

I hate tinted front windows also. Can't make eye contact with other drivers on the road and wave them on or let them in. Which means instead of being helpful, I'm going to be an asshole.

Ah limo tint, no wonder you get pulled over so often. 35% tint is enough for me. Anything lower %wise would be too much trouble while driving at night for me.

That's pretty dark :)

Are there any states that you can get your windows tinted that dark legally?

Frankly, that level of tint is not comfortable for night driving, but apparently when my wife had it done, she requested the darkest. Personally, I'd like to back if off about 50%. It sure makes a black car look great though! :)

I know what you mean about black interior. Our Benz is black on black and it looks tinted too, but there is no tint on that car, other than factory. I have a fetish for black cars. All three of ours are black.
