Puerto Rico P4 1.6A??? 3/20/02 though =)

I just bought another p4... Haven't gotten it yet, but the seller told me it's a puerto rican chip. FPO/BATCH# : 3207A055 PACK DATE : 03/20/02

I know the pack date is good (or so I've heard), but puerto rico? Never heard of one of those... Anyway, if any of you have one, or even just a 3/20/02 pack date lemme know how far you got yours?

I have a Costa Rica 4/14/02 pack date right now that I have high hopes for... it can do 2.5 at 1.625V easy, but my hdd can't handle that bus speed so I can't push it any further until I get my Epox 4bda2+

I am only going to keep one of them, so what have you guys been hitting with these assembly/pack dates???

seem to recall pm saying that all those chips were produced in on place but then packaged in several different places!

Ok, I think the seller just didn't look carefully, because I found out the 3 in the Batch# means it's a costa rica...

BUT, I still would like to know what people with 3/20/02 pack dates (exactly that date) have gotten their p4's to.... speed and volts please...

I would like to know the same for anyone with 4/14/02 pack dates as well...

Generally, the newer the chip, the more likely it will overclock better, but I have heard some horror stories about the 4/04/02 pack date... Anyway, this is just out of curiousity as I will do my own testing as soon as I get the new chip and new motherboard....

BTWl they are made in one place, just packaged/ assembled in different places...

ALL P4's are made in the USA.

They are simply packaged elsewhere which does not make any difference in how well they overclock.

hey steel, I think I alrady posted that they are all made in one placed but packaged in different places.... no need for you to repeat what I said....

yea, the person who sold me the chip told me it was puerto rico..... i never saw that b4, that's why I made this post originally..... but then I noticed the 3 in the FPO which means its a Costa Rica... The seller prolly just made a mistake...

I've gotta 03/20/02 pack date 1.6A had a bad video card and waiting for replacement......
anxious to see what it will do!

Costa Rica 03/20/02 at 2479Mhz, stock cooling, ASUS P4B266-C, 1.75v true readout (set to 1.7v in the BIOS). I'm pretty sure I can go higher once I get my new power supply, as I'm limited by power at the moment.

Good luck! 🙂

He confused Costa Rica with Puerto Rico? How stupid can people be? I don't know of anyone manufacturing CPUs in Puerto Rico, it would be too expensive.

pack date of 3/20/02 here. P4 1.6a Costa Rica.
Running @ 2.4 Ghz @ default voltage (1.5v) with stock cooling.
You should be fine.

for some reason, it wont do 160 FSB. No matter how high i go on the voltage. I am 99% sure that its not my CPU, its my memory. I have every reason to believe that this CPU can easily do 160 and perhaps 170 even.

believe me, your getting a good chip. my temps are late 30s idle (36-37) and early 50s full load (50-51) at stock cooling.

Thanks

Batch #3207A211
Pack Date 03/20/02
Version #A82110-003
Sandra Arithmetic Bench at 2405mhz

I don't know how stable it is at that speed (I only got it up to 2485mhz before it froze on me), but I was running it for over 12 hours at 2219mhz, and have completed 3Dmark2001 benches at 2356mhz (though the scores aren't that impressive because I have to set my memory to 1:1 to get that high).

hmm, well i wouldn't be satisfied at 2.4ghz..... i've tested over 6 chips all doing only 2.4-2.5 at most......

I'm gonna keep trying til I get 2.6 or faster...... =)

reason? my athlon 1.6ghz is BARELY slower than my p4 at 2.4ghz... i mean the p4 is faster, but not by much..... and I paid a lot more for this p4 system (well, $50-$75 more than another 1.6ghz AXP system would have cost me...
