Publishing Childrens Books

I have put together a childrens book and I would like to get it published. However, I am not too sure where to begin and what the costs are and so forth.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

I have no experience but I would guess you would mail it to a few publishing houses and see what they say.

I believe the key is to have a good illustrator for the pictures which also tell the story.

Also, a literary agent may be a good idea.

You need to contact a publishing house. Have you tried somebody like McGraw-Hill?

I haven't contacted anyone yet. I'm in grad school for elem. ed. and for an assignment, i had to make an ABC book and mine was on inventions.

I figured this would be a good children's book to publish. of course, i would spruce it up a bit, but first, i wanted to get some info on publishing it.
