Publisher 2000 help needed

Problem: All of my publisher files have changed colors. The backgrounds are purple, the pages of my docs are green. Can't stand it and can't find out how to change them. It apears to have nothing to do with color schemes, since they too only show the same purple and green colors even though they have the complete list of themes available to choose from.. I remember showing an employee that they could color code files which were theirs, and now I can't remember how I showed them to do this, so I can't reverse the process. Can anyone help with a little friendly advise?
