I'm stuck at frickin' EWR for god knows how long, so I shelled out $7 for the wireless access here.

Is it safe to access my financial accounts (bank, credit card, Etrade, etc)?

I hate EWR. And PHL, JFK, LGA.

Yes and no, as far as I understand it anything that has a secure login is safe but anything that doesn't isn't safe. Usually there isn't anyone sitting around sniffing your packets but you never know. Someone could be reading what you posted and not by going to these forums...

The wireless is unencrypted, but if the sites you are looking at are HTTPS, they should have some sort of encryption to protect your passwords/info.

but at JFK, at least you don't have to shell out $7 for wireless access since it's FREE!

it's no more or less safe than a wired connection. people can hack you from anywhere. just don't send senstive stuff over non-encrypted websites, no matter where you are.

heh. Actually, I am being protective of MY electrical outlet. Every single socket in this terminal is being used and I got a nice one right next to a seat. Anyway, I'll take KarenM's advice and "not chance it."

What the heck happened in the Northeast today? Some kind of super thunderstorm?
