Public Service Announcement: There is no such thing as "Nortons" AntiVirus

Why do people call Norton AntiVirus "Nortons" or "Norton's" ? There is no such thing.

Effective immediately, anyone who refers to this software with either of the above misnomers will result in a public beating.

Over and out.

Pedantic anyone?
If you REALLY want to be pedantic, then you are still wrong - Post version 8.0 NAV was renamed SAV - Symantec Antivirus. Norton Antivirus no longer exists except as a legacy product.

He is complaining about the " s " or " 's " that people incorrectly put at the end of Norton.

Ah, okay. I guess the next rant will be against "MS" products, like "Win95" or "WinME".

why does bill gates care about what people call software by a competitor?

This reminds me of a conversation I had once with some friends about Tiffany & Co -- "But it's not called 'Tiffany's' -- it's Tiffany!"

Tiffanys is always shortened that way. Same with Strawbridge & Clothier (Strawbridges) or JC Penney (Penneys).
I dunno why.

Ok, cool. For a minute there, I thought this was a highly informal (read: casual) "discussion" forum, 'discussion' meaning that all the 'casual' traits which might be found in casual social discussion are acceptable, including the use of slang and less than perfect grammar. Silly me!

As I now understand it, it is a highly formal writing venue where only the most formal and correct usage is permitted to go uncriticized by the resident nit-pickers whose own lives are so pathetic that their only source of self-esteem is to correct everyone else.

Thanks for the information, learn something new every day!

It does not matter but I wonder how many people care about this?
