Sitting here in front of the computer and next to me is a 9 year old boy sitting next to the boy is a 80 year old man looking at web page "sweet teen". I just watched him click on a girls pic to enlarge. This guy has a big band aid on his face.

He just got an error cannot open "webpage"

hilarious. This guy is clicking on every girls picture but he is getting an error.

Libraries shouldn't be blocking the internet in my opinion. We all know those blocking programs block a lot of legitimate stuff.

If he is watching it then the blocks are not very good.

I've heard this is a chronic problem in libraries. Not sure what these fvcking idiots are thinking. My wife is a nurse and a lot of the old men are absolute pigs. I think I will turn into one when I'm 60 also. They just don't care, make sexual advances/comments (most of the time she turns them away, just to let you know) because they're old and nobody will really give them a hard time.

There shouldn't be censoring on the library computers, just kick people out if they are surfing mouthsex.com at the library.

I tried using the public library for my Internet addiction and was sorely disappointed. NO, it wasn't because I couldn't look at porn, but because they block almost everything. You could not access a single Internet site that was any kind of forum that allowed posting, which meant there were numerous sites I couldn't access at all. This gestapo BS has been taken way too far IMO.

It reminds me of when I was in high school. We had to write a paper on religions in other cultures. The web filtering software our school had blocked a lot of Muslim stuff for being "terrorist related" and it blocked other religions for being "witchcraft".

There were several papers and assignments that our teacher had to cancel because our web service wouldn't let us do reserach.

So basically, you are okay with the high possibility that children will no longer be allowed to go to the library, because I think you would be hard-pressed to find a parent that would allow their child to go if they knew porn was allowed to be displayed. The next thing you will complain about is that only dirty-old men use the library.

Why look at pics when he has potential for the real thing right next to him?

Ok . . . that was in poor taste. . . . but it had to be said!

I can walk into a library or bookstore and find a book with naked pictures of people, sometimes in sexual acts. (Trust me, I did this as a kid).

I'd rather not have any censorship at all and risk a kid seeing some porn than have certain non-adult things censored by crappy web filtering.

I've seen libraries with better solutions. You keep the internet uncensored, but you have all the screens forwarded to the front desk. You can do it with lots of computers, it works. That way the librarian can glance through some system of screens and if they see porn, they can immediately lock that computer. It works fine.

Dear Lord, you guys know there are these things called books, right? You know that MOST knowledge is not online, right? You know that a librarians job is not to shelve books and monitor computer usage, right?

WTH passes for education these days? Your teacher canceled writing assignment because the web was censored at school? WTF? This sorry ass excuse for an educator is teaching kids?
