Public Health Announcement

So what those scientists basically found out is that people with extremely bad health due to obesity are more likely to catch virusses. What a surprise.

Edit: And the source of the Fox 'News' article is an English tabloid 😀

That picture is hilarious.

And so is the concept of a fat virus. I guess it's running rampant in the US and nowhere else in the world?

Every article about obesity needs a picture of a fat person, as though none of the readers have ever seen one before. 😕

In the US, or other developed nations where high-calorie food is easily available. People in third world nations, where medical care is not easily available, must simply be immune to the virus.

Fox news.... that explains so much.

Yeah, making up a story that allows fat people to blame nature for their obesity really fits Fox News's m.o. 😕

And the pictures are meant for them, so they can see what happens in countries where people don't just have enough food, but have more food than is good for them...

The study in question was done on tissue culture cells and looking for viral influence on cellular differentiation. Other studies have found a correlation between adenovirus and obesity.

They apparently found some effects specific to one strain of adenovirus, Ad36. They used a second strain (Ad2) as a control and saw the increase in adipocyte markers only in the Ad36 strain.

Pretty weird stuff. A lot more work to be done, obviously.

I call bullshit.....if that was the case there would be a hell of a lot more obese people than there are.

This guy is a moron.

As if there aren't already a lot of obese people? 😕

""People could be fat for reasons other than viral infections, so it?s pointless for fat people to try to avoid infection," said Dhurandhar."

1. How many do you want? We have a ton of them.
2. The article said that it takes 3 months to build up resistance to the virus, so it's not clear how this could really be the cause of chronic morbid obesity.
