"According to this poll, by 47 percent to 40 percent the public says it would prefer Democrats controlling Congress after the 2006 elections."

That's a good sign. Bring some balance back to the force.

Unless Emperor O'Dell steps in again.

This was bad news across the board for Bush, Iraq, economy, judges ... and Congress. I found this especially encouraging:
?The public is exceptionally displeased with the Congress,? Hart said. ?It is [its] lowest set of numbers since May of 1994,? the year when congressional Republicans defeated their Democratic counterparts in the midterm elections to take control of both the House and Senate. According to this poll, by 47 percent to 40 percent the public says it would prefer Democrats controlling Congress after the 2006 elections.
Bush is a lame duck. His political capital is rapidly evaporating. His destructive agenda is starting to damage his party. With any luck at all, the smart Republicans will soon abandon him to save their own hides.

It is looking good for a change next election. If the Dem's are lucky enought to get control of the Senate back Bush won't be a lame duck, he'll be a dead duck!!

One can only hope.

Dave-

You obviously forget that the present Republican party is controlled by a minority of its coalition. Yes, I said coalition. The minority has wiggled its way to the top of the bureacracy and the majority members have not exerted their ability to remove them.

Congress has wrong priorities
McInturff, the GOP pollster, points out that Americans are upset with Congress focusing on the battle over judges, Social Security, trying to restore Terri Schiavo?s feeding tube and the ethical troubles surrounding their members, including Rep. Tom DeLay, R-Texas, instead of focusing on the economy, gas prices and health care.

?There are some core day-to-day issues that they don?t see being addressed,? he said. ?The people want us to head in a different direction and hear different things.?

I don't think the GOP gets it. The public doesn't want their social, economic, judicial, moral policies. The only reason they are in power is WoT. They have no mandate to do anything else.

Actually people do want their economic policies. It's their social policies that people don't want. People want someone who is socially liberal and fiscally conservative. We need to get Ross Perot to run again. ;)

Nah..Republicans have to ruin the courty again like they did w/ hoover and Mckinley for Dems to fix things again and be dominate again. By 2016 should have enough people marginalized, even hard core conservatives who can't afford private school for thier children will become dems, and a whole new generation loving an "FDR" type fiqure like the "greatest gen" does.

I say give them "nuclear option" on everything, not just judges, get rid of fillibuster altogether and hurry the process along.. Get rid of public schools. Get rid of all social spending. Get rid of FHA/VA. Give them everything they want and sit back and watch the clamity insue.

Actually it was the young Federal Reserve that ruined the country back then...well at least for the Hoover part. Hoover didn't really help the country but he certainly didn't ruin it.

I'm not really sure about Mckinley though. Are you saying he ruined it because of his opposition to a bimetal standard or because of the Spanish-American War?

And in 2 years it can all be set straight.
