Imho,

I think anyone that takes the time to post in a forum has some passion for technology and may consider themselves a fan for technology, hence a fanboy in some sense.

That's why I don't understand what the big deal truly is? As with passion of being a fan there may be extremism and close-minded, one-sided fans but that is part of the nature that is Forum lore.

If someone calls me a Fanboy -- okay, guilty as charged and not really an insult to me.

So many try to convince themselves they're not a fanboy. It's not the fanboyism that is the problem in forums but personal shots toward other members. If someone desires to support a company and even be one-sided -- so what? Engage the points and even one-sided extremist may bring in a good data point and discussion point.

Thats it! its not what you say, its the tone in which i read it! Fanboys are fun????? is that what you trying to promote!!! Propaganda man!!!!

joke......

haha.....

seriously, i am kidding

My favorite views are when gamers buy their new hardware and share their findings and experiences compared to their past product sku's. There may not be exactness or anything scientific, at times, but it is enjoyable to read their passion for technologies. Even though these products may be engineering marvels -- they do bring fun and joy to countless millions and think it is wonderful to read views from objective, close minded, open minded, pro-nVidia, pro-AMD, one-sided, irony posts, and my favorite: someone just sharing their excitement or findings and taking their time to share for the community.

For example, threads like this:

I'm fine with someone preferring one brand over another. It's all good. What bothers me is when someone is just blatantly and outright obtuse about X product because it's not their favorite and will smash the competition even though it may be a great product, just because it's not X company. I never understood that obsession. I have my preference. I'm not denying that. However, to argue for the sake of a brand is silly. Neverthless, it's sometimes fun to argue. I disagree with SirPauly a lot, but at least he is civil and polite, and always put his case forward. He's a good Nemesis....:sneaky:

I was a fanboi until I got laid.

Then I discovered something else to devote my energy and attention to.

Everybody needs a hobby. There are a lot of hobbies to pursue. I honestly don't think tech fanboys (as opposed to tech enthusiasts, which I still consider myself) have tried enough other hobbies.

Do you mind if I use some or all of your quote to put into my signature line? :)

It's great to disagree a lot and adds spirit to discussions. Personally welcome disagreement, very much so.
