That's just sorry as hell right there. No way I'd just stand there and watch someone get killed by something as stupid as a saw without trying to help.

I must admit, I wouldnt have helped him. I'm not taking on some psycho with cordless saws without a pistol.
And of course, NYC wont allow you to own guns or carry them. So if NYC thinks its in my best interest to let NYC authorities deal with emergencies.....Then so be it.

All you'd need was something with a longer reach than his; a pole, wrench, rock, anything.

None of which are readily available in the New York subway system.

So, this guy found two battery-powered reciprocating/whatever saws.... where??

"The man grabbed the two cordless power saws off a workbench where a private contractor was working on the subway. They placed their tools in a cutoff area on the subway platform." Metropolitan Transit Authority spokesman James Anyansi said.

Which brings us back to the fact that NYC doesnt want the mere sheeple to intervene. Trust in your local authorities, they will save you.
If NYC wont give the means to properly defend myself and others, dont expect me to jump in and save someone. I'll call 911 and walk away, because thats exactly what They want.

Reason #375,891 to carry a gun. Thank you New York, for endangering everyone who lives there and making them defensless; living in fear of every whack-job with a power tool.

I've never heard of a cordless chainsaw, so I'm going to guess the AP is stupid (who knew?) and they were reciprocating saws.

Eh actually it's the OP not knowing what he's talking about. 😛 I thought when I first read the article it said chainsaw too, but I don't see that anymore.

You've never heard of a cordless chain saw? You do realize that all good (i.e. gas powered) chain saws are cordless, right? Take a look at Stihl's line-up: Link

Uh yea, I know about gas chainsaws. 😉 My dad has two. The term cordless implies electricity without a cord, and I didn't know that existed for chainsaws.
